HAND DRAWN ILLUSTRATION SERIES
THE SENSE OF SMELL
THE STORY
The Sense of Smell is a series of illustrations based on repeated cases I saw while working in a pet store.
It deals with common issues like bad smell, refusal to eat, and preference for home food. The project turns this everyday knowledge about food, environment, and habits into a visual language.
Black plays two roles in the series - it works like a material, such as smoke, liquid, or pollution, and it also connects the three cases through the ideas of smell and nutrition.
Each illustration shows a different case, but together they show how people shape their pets’ behavior through small compromises and unclear boundaries.
